“Perfectionist? That’s not something I am — Mac DeMarco

Mac DeMarco is an upcoming Canadian artist in the “slacker rock” genre. As he has become increasingly popular, his fan base seems to have grown exponentially. I personally enjoy Mac DeMarco’s music because of his unique sound. No, not his voice, but they way he handles his guitar. His “trademarked” playing style is unlike any other, and that is what I believe to attracts new fans the most.

DeMarco first reached fame when he was signed by his record label, Captured Tracks. In 2012, he released a four-track album called Rock and Roll Night Club. His career only took off from there; he shortly came out with two more albums, Salad Days (2014) and Another One (2015), which were instant hits.

Perhaps the most intriguing thing about Mac DeMarco is that he uses vintage equipment while playing his music. His guitar of choice was $30 (until it started to break) despite his partnership with the guitar company, Fender. He also utilizes vintage Japanese synthesizers which contributes to his one-of-a-kind sound.

Mac DeMarco is an interesting character to say the least. And if you ever get the chance, give him a listen because you won’t be disappointed.
